Trauma & PTSD

Trauma isn't always a single dramatic event. It can also be years of experiences that push beyond the mind's ability to safely process them: abuse, neglect, loss, an accident, prolonged stress. The effects of trauma may surface immediately, or they may appear years later — as flashbacks, hypervigilance, sleep problems, emotional numbness, or avoidance of certain situations.

PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) is one of the forms trauma can take. Trauma therapy requires both expertise and a careful pace — it's not about working through everything at once, but about building a sense of safety and gradually making sense of what was once unbearable. It's a process worth going through with someone who can guide you along the way.
