Eating disorders

Eating disorders — anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia — are far more than "a problem with food." They are serious conditions in which a person's relationship with their body, food, and sense of self-worth becomes intertwined in ways that begin to cause real harm. They can develop over years, unnoticed, hidden behind what looks like discipline or "taking care of yourself."

Treatment calls for a team — a therapist, a dietitian, sometimes a psychiatrist and a physician. A first conversation with a therapist can help you get your bearings and map out the next steps. The sooner, the better — but it's never too late to seek help, no matter how long you've been living with this.
